To Murray's Host

Let me introduce you to Murray... The thing with the long legs and big feet that looks similar to a mutated chicken and is stuffed in the Pooh backpack you are probably staring at. Thank You for taking part in this Mail Murray Around the World endeavor. We do hope you will enJoy your time with him.

When you receive Murray….

1) PASSPORT-Before you toss out his box or the paper it was wrapped in please peal off the stamp/postmark and glue or tape it into his Passport that is also contained in his backpack. Also enter the date he arrived and if you would, put the state or province and country he is in on the page with the postmark. (You do not have to give your address or your real name if you don't want but please put your "handle". If you do not feel comfortable having people know your town this is fine but we would like to know what state or province and country.

2)DIARY-Keep an email diary for Murray. Daily entries would be great but I know it's not always possible. After each entry please mail it home to us at joy@murraythechicken.com All diary entries will be posted on his web page. Have fun with it.. People love to hear stories of Murray's adventures.. Introduce him to your friends, family co workers, local grocery store clerk, the waitress at the restaurant you frequent.. Have a blast. You'd be amazed at how receptive people are to cute cuddly stuffed chickens.. Then again I'm sure you won't be surprised at the odd looks you get from folks either.. But rest assured.. I don't think anyone has been put away yet for trotting around the country side showing a chicken a good time.. There is how ever always a first time for everything.

3) PICTURES-Most importantly TAKE PICTURES!! Yes people we need pictures of where Murray is or where he has been while staying with you. These will also be posted on his page when we receive them.

Some ideas of possible pictures to take Murray with.

Your Town or City Signs	Special events ie : parade, rodeo, party
Monuments, Statues and Landmarks	Celebrities
Family and Friends	Historical Sites and Buildings

There are 2 ways to get your photo's to us. Firstly send up the photos themselves to Joy or scan the photos to jpg or jpeg format (keep the size to about 3x4 and no more than 72 dpi) Then email them to us or snail mail to:

4) RECIPE'S-We'd really appreciate any chicken recipes you may have also. This includes stuffing recipes, egg dishes and just bout anything you make that goes with your chicken dinner..

5)Please do not keep Murray more than 2 weeks! Some folks have asked for Murray to be at their homes at a certain time of the year and we'll try to get him to everyone when they ask..but unfortunately with the mail being what it is we can't promise exact arrival dates. To find out who his next host is email Joy and she will give you the next hosts mailing address.

6) PINS-You'll notice Murray has a scarf and toque.. Well at least he did when he left home.. He will be wearing something that has lapel pins stuck to it. Please add your pin/pins to this before he leaves you. If you can scan them and mail then to us we'll post them on his pin page.

7) GIFT-You will also notice a blue bandana in Murray's pack.. It should contain a small gift for you to keep from the last person who Murray stayed with. It's just a token gift to say thank you for having him in your home. Please send along another little gift valued at no more than 5 dollars to the next person. (Try and make it tacky *s*) No powdered products please.

8) MAILING MURRAY Once you are ready to mail Murray along double check the address of the person to receive him. Please make sure he has sufficient postage and a Return address. I suggest (because it's only a dollar or so) to put insurance on him so we can track him if he gets lost in the mail which would be a darn shame but it's entirely up to you to do so. If you are sending him cross boarders Please put his worth at no more than $10.00. Other wise customs estimates outlandish prices and someone may end up paying duty and taxes. Also.. this may or may not help with customs.. on the sides of the box write this "This box contains Murray the Chicken http://www.murraythechicken.com" they may look up the website instead of shredding his boxes at the border.

9) EnJOY!-Lastly.. Sit back and follow Murray's adventures on his web page..It will be fun to see where he gets to and what kind of interesting things people do with him while he visits.. (embellished stories are welcome and encouraged *s*)

REMEMBER.. We do eventually want Murray to make his way home.. In preferably one piece so take care of this sweet young bird. Show him a good time..but ..most of all just have fun with him and thank you so much for joining us !!
